- ***avrkám*** a-[vṛ́ka](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%E0%A4%B5%E0%A5%83%E0%A4%95#Sanskrit) ("un-harm, away-wolf") Lat. *lupus*, Eng. *wolf*, etc. The PIE root literally means the "Dangerous One" or the "Tearer". Why? Well like the PIE root for "Bear", it may be a taboo-name avoidance.
- Most scholars translate "avr̥káṁ" as "un-harm" but J&B were more literal.
